Etihad recognised in 2011 Pan Arab Web Awards

Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, has won first prize in the airlines category at the 7th annual Pan Arab Web Awards, one of the top awards programs for digital developments in the region.
The Pan Arab Web Awards recognise excellence in web design, development and web ownership skills in the Arab region. Web and business developers are critiqued based on: concept and creativity; technical, ease of use and navigation; content and structure; visual design and aesthetics; and interactivity.
Etihad Airways was awarded for the airline’s innovative website, etihad.com, as judged by a committee of Arab and regional design and technical professionals.
Peter Baumgartner, Etihad Airways’ Chief Commercial Officer, said: “We continue to invest in the development of etihad.com because we understand that global travellers are increasingly turning to online channels to research, plan and book their journeys. Our website allows us to ensure that the travel experience is easy and convenient for Etihad’s passengers from the moment of booking.
“Etihad.com is a vital tool for optimising the sales, service and marketing of our brand to a worldwide audience. To be recognised again by the Pan Arab Web Awards has validated our comprehensive digital strategy efforts and demonstrated Etihad again as an innovator and leader in online travel solutions.”
Etihad.com is currently available in ten different languages, including English, Arabic, French, German, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, Italian, Korean and Thai and has over 46 specific country websites.
Customers can book flights on the site, as well as hotels, cars and insurance or shop with miles and cash from thousands of products at the airline’s award winning online Reward Shop. Other features include ‘Experience Etihad’, an interactive onboard and ground experience, route maps and timetables, as well as other online services such as web check-in, which have become very popular.
The Pan Arab Web Awards ceremony was held at the Phoenicia Intercontinental Hotel in Beirut, Lebanon. Read More
